Bailey's Boot Camp Basics - Part II

February 26, 2007 Wednesday Noon
Sheryl Bailey
Price per Unit (piece):
$29.95

Drill Sergeant (and fine  guitarist) Sheryl Bailey continues her series for the beginning level jazz guitarist.  In this class, she will cover arpeggios for II-V-I's, voice-leading for II-V-I's, Drop 3's, Guide Tones and Harmonic Ear Training.  While Sergeant Bailey' Boot Camp Basics classes are ideal for the entry-level jazz guitarist, they are very worthwhile for most!

Very useful info here. Lots to shed! The chords, how to organize the fretboard, how voicings relate to your lines.
The last 20 mins of the video is worth the price of admission alone!

Sheryl's is a great guitarist who's willing to share everything she knows. A lot of teachers just say you need to learn this and that now go practice. Sheryl goes shows you how it applies, other ways to use the information, then applies to tunes. I'm also picking up a lot getting to watch how she navigates the fretboard when she's playing. The camera is set to get a clear view of her picking technique as well as the neck to help transcribe things not in the notes. I started with the Boot Camp II thinking I would be too basic, but after seeing and hearing the insights Sheryl includes I am going to get Boot Camp I and other Sheryl Bailey Master Classes. Highly recommended!

I enjoyed watching Sheryl's Boot Camp Basics. On a personal note, she comes across as down to earth and genuinely interested in sharing helpful information to her targeted audience. She offers a lot of material that will benefit the beginning and early intermediate jazz player. Sheryl covers a good amount of information in her lessons that will require several viewings to fully digest.
